Montross revitalization
Sept. 14 will be the second of three meetings concerning the upcoming Downtown Revitalization Plan. The Town of Montross has secured a Department of Housing and Community Development Planning Grant for an economic restructuring plan and physical improvements plan for the downtown totaling $25,000. The town has also secured two Virginia Housing Development Association Mixed-Used/Mixed income Planning Grants for $10,000.
Several community visioning sessions have been held and a management team comprised of local leaders and business people are in place to guide revitalization efforts. The Land Planning & Design Associates team will provide planning updates and use visioning materials already prepared by the Clay Christensen Group and other sources.
The resulting Revitalization Plan will act as the foundation for future endeavors and assist in securing additional Community Improvement Grant funding as well as funding from other sources.
This meeting will be held at the fire department at 7 p.m., on Sept. 14, and is open to the public. There will be a PowerPoint presentation and then those present will divide into groups to formulate ideas as well as suggestions. Town officials ask for as much community participation as possible at this important meeting.
