Noted Harp Guitarist to Play at Andrew Chapel

Harp guitarist, Stephen Bennett, will play a special Concert at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church in Montross at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 12.

Admission is free, but there will be a free-will offering. Stephen Bennett is a musician to hear. His playing has won awards and critical praise. In live

performance and on record, his diverse musical influences and interests are joined with a lifelong love affair with the sound of guitar strings. His musical selections will include a wide variety of musical styles--a mix of his own tunes and his arrangements of other tunes, from Scott Joplin to Tchaikovsky to the Beatles to Cole Porter. With six strings or more, Bennett is one of the most original and prolific composers and arrangers for the guitar on the current scene. Hearing him caressing his great-grandfather’s harp guitar, sliding on his old National resonator guitar, or doing fingerstyle acrobatics on a standard six-string guitar, it becomes obvious why he is one of the most critically acclaimed guitar players of our time.

Shayne Estes, Pastor of Andrew Chapel is himself a talented string musician, particularly on the cello, but also the guitar, and he has made special arrangements to arrange for our community to enjoy a musical evening with Stephen Bennett.
