Last Thursday, after defeating the Washington & Lee basketball team (1-2), 65-51, at the Foxes Den - the KGHS gymnasium, the Foxes extended their regular season record to 4-1. The victory completed a seasonal varsity sweep of the Foxes’ Northern Neck District boys basketball adversary.

Earlier this season, the Eagles lost to the Foxes, 71-41 on their home court. Foxes forwards, L.J. Baylor (23 points) and Damion Carroll (14) both scored in double figures, while Chris Henry scored 16 points, and recorded 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
On Friday, after enduring two straight losses, the Eagles bounced back to defeat King William, 78-64. Chris Henry led the Eagles with 32 points, while Wallace McDowney and Chris Henry scored in double figures.

In the first quarter, the Foxes posted a 9-3 run courtesy of scores from L.J. Baylor,

Anthony Howard, and Keenan Frye. Minutes later, the Eagles offense, led by McDowney, tied the score at 11-11, with 2:25 left to play in the quarter. After A.J. Turner cut the Fox lead to 17-16, Frye closed the quarter out with a lay-up from an assist from Baylor to take a 19-16 lead.

At the start of the second quarter, the Eagles tied the game at 19-19. King George responded with a 9-2 run, to lengthen their lead to 29-21. Howard and Baylor closed the quarter and half out with lay-ups, which gave the Foxes a 34-26-halftime lead.
The Eagles appeared to regain the momentum in the third quarter. After De’Shon Brown’s fast-break lay-up lifted the partisan Fox crowd from the bleachers, the Eagles collectively responded with 10-6 run. Later in the quarter, after a jumper from Kwame Gray, the Eagles cut the Foxes lead down to six points (46-41), but the Foxes managed to close out the quarter scoring two for four from the foul line.

In the final quarter, the Eagles defense struggled to keep pace with the Foxes up-tempo style of offense. All 17 points scored by King George were the result of fast breaks. While the Eagles managed to score 11 points, it wasn’t enough, as Baylor and Howard scored the final points for the Foxes.
