KG Foxes thrive at FUMA invitational track meet

the FUMA Invitational track meet at the Estes Athletic Center, in Fork Union Military Academy, the Foxes finished on a high note, as the six Fox athletes qualified for Regional post season competition. Terry Santos performance in the 55-meter hurdles (8.66, 3rd) landed him a state qualification.

Earning a Regional bids the following Fox athletes continue to have a solid season: Shearl Levere stole the show with two first place finishes in the girls’ long jump (15’ 3.75”) and the girls’ 55-meter hurdles (9.41). Joe Walton finished strong also with a first place finish in the boys’ long jump (20’9.25). Walton also finished third in the 55-meter dash (6.74) and seventh in the 300-meter dash with a time of 39.47. In the girls’ high jump, Lindsey Armentrout leaped to 4’8”, and a third place finish, while teammate Imani Murray made the grade with a leap of 4’6”, finishing seventh. Distance star Ciara Mading finished third in the girls’ 3200-meters with a time of 12:44.25. Also, Wayne Wyatt time of 7.00 in the 55-meter dash earned himself a banner day and a spot in the Regionals.
A field of 14 schools competed in the invitational, where the Foxes girls’ team placed second, while the boys’ finished seventh. Out of 16 events, the Lady Foxes placed in every event except the 1000-meters.
This Saturday, the Foxes along with 27 teams return to Fork Union Military Academy for the Elite Meet. The meet will feature the best athletes from each team’s event. Go Foxes!

Boys’ triple jump – N/A. Girls’ triple jump – Amethyst Polk, 31’07.5”, 3rd; Zuri Polk, 28’ 06.50”, 9th; Shearl Levere, 26’ 02.75”, 13th. Boys’ high jump -  Glen Jones, 5’4”, 7th; Corey Rodriquez, 5’4”, 7th. Boys’ pole vault – David Jerson, 11’, 7th; Matt Jerson, 8’6”, 17th; Matt Walseman, 7’, 23rd. Girls’ pole vault – Kenzie Belew, 7’6”, 6th; Lindsey Armentrout, 5’6”,14th. Boys’ 4x800-meter relay – Zach Walseman, Javon Haas, Andrew Cloud, Matt Walseman, 9:35.80, 6th.
