First of all, we want to thank all the veterans out there who gave so much for each one of us. Many veterans have come back from recent conflicts with some healing to do. Project Healing Waters, the Wounded Warrior Project and others help our service men and women upon return. If you can, help these organizations out. To our veterans, we appreciate what you have done.
Potomac River
Shady Lane Seafood, (804) 224-7878, reported that the rockfishing is very good. At press time someone had a 47-pound rockfish in the tournament. The birds are working the river. Try white and chartreuse colored bucktails. Aqua Land reported good catfishing from shore.
Rappahannock River
Ken’s Tackle reported great bass fishing around Hicks’ Landing. Catfish are biting well too. Any cut bait will work.
Inland waters
Ponds are red hot for crappie and bass. Minnows are a good choice. The pond in Fredericksburg opened Nov. 1 to trout anglers for stocked fish.
Saltwater
Ken’s reported rockfish biting at the mouth of the river.
Hunting
Many hunters are reporting lots of small bucks. However, some large ones are out there. Pern’s checked in a 14-point buck taken by Dan Dickson. They also had an 8-point buck.
Small game hunting is good. There are plenty of foxes out and about. Turkey are seen in good numbers but the season is now closed.
