On June 23, 2009 the King George Republican Committee (“Committee”) held its regular monthly meeting at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, located at 10640 Kings Hwy., King George, VA 22485. The meeting was called by Mr. Larry B Kile, Chairman of the Committee. The Committee heard reports from the Committee's Chairman, Mr. Kile, Vice Chairman, Mr. Paul S. Tucker, and the Treasurer, Mrs. Jill Kile, voted in two new members, and discussed its ongoing and desired future community and political activities at the local, state, and federal levels.
Various fundraising ideas were proposed by members and discussed by the Committee, of which three were deemed worth further investigation and as such became action items.
The Committee unanimously voted in two new members. This reflects not only a recent trend of growth of the Committee, but the swelling of ranks of conservative activists in Virginia and across America. The latter was in evidence at the May 2009 Republican Party of Virginia ("RPV") Convention as well, where an unprecedented number of delegates gathered to elect new RPV Chairman and the party's nominees for Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General.
The Committee also considered the question of the proper scope and focus of its involvement in “local issues.” The members agreed that such involvement should be limited to issues touching upon the Republican values and principles. At the same time, the Committee resolved that the state and federal issues impacting the Republican values and principles must see the Committee's involvement. Accordingly, it was proposed and decided that a standing subcommittee be created with the tasking to identify the appropriate issues at the three levels and bring them to the Committee's attention and for its action. Mr. Kile appointed a Committee member, Jacob Roginsky, to take charge of forming such a subcommittee.
Two friends of the Committee were present at the meeting and actively participated in the discussions. One of them is the Republican nominee for the 99th District Delegate, Mrs. Catherine Crabill. The King George Republican Party delegation to the recent 99th District Republican Convention voted nearly unanimously to make her the party's nominee, as a person of integrity and uncompromising commitment to this nation's values and founding principles. The Committee briefly considered how it may be of assistance to Catherine with her fundraising and other campaign efforts.
