Important information for King George Dog and Cat Owners

In King George County, it is illegal to -

Own a dog or cat 4 months or older that has not been vaccinated for rabies.

Own a dog 4 months or older that does not have a current county dog license.  Licenses can be purchased at the Treasurer's Office or KGAC, proof of current rabies required.


Allow any dog to run at large during April, May, June or July ANYWHERE in the county.

Allow any dog to run at large at anytime in Dahlgren, Fairview Beach, any subdivision, industrial or commercial parcels, public property or trailer parks.
Allow any dog to run at large without a license.
Allow livestock to run at large.
Fail to report an animal bite.
Deny any domesticated animal adequate food, water, shelter or veterinary care.

HOT WEATHER CARE FOR YOUR PETS

Provide Plenty of fresh, clean water.

Provide clean food at least once daily.

Remove uneaten food and pet waste daily.

 Provide a dry, clean shelter with fresh bedding.
Assure access to a shady, breezy location for pet to escape the heat.
Provide ample space to rest and exercise.
Provide protection from parasites and wildlife.
