On
Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 7 p.m., the King George High School Theatre
Department presents “Four.” The event presents four one-act plays that
were the result of collaboration between the school’s Advanced Creative Writing
class and Advanced Theatre Classes.
Initially,
the presentation began as a workplace mock-up where writers learned about the
task of creating and revising a script for actors; similarly, the actors
experienced the opportunity to ask questions about the scripts from real-time
writers. As the exercise progressed, though, it became clear that
students and teachers in both courses wanted to see the works performed for a
live audience.
Keeping
in mind principal Todd Satterwhite’s encouragement to make this a year where
students continue to grow though community service, it was decided that the
performance proceeds should go toward assisting student Morgan Clift, who was
injured in a serious car accident in 2009. “Four,” in essence, is for Morgan.
This
will be the second benefit performance by the KGHS theatre department.
Last year, proceeds from one of the highly successful performances of “Big
River” were contributed to the Win for Wesley fund.
The
evening promises to be an entertaining foray into the insights and talents of
many of King George High School’s creative spirits.
Admission
to “Four” is $4.
