Brooks elected as vice chairman, 2010 meetings scheduled

Dale Sisson was elected by his colleagues to preside as chairman of the King George County Board of Supervisors for 2010, with Cedell Brooks Jr. elected as vice chairman.  
The two were also elected to the same offices for the King George County Service Authority and the King George Wireless Authority. They last served in these respective offices in 2007.
The officer elections took place last Tuesday. The meeting on Jan. 5 was the first of the year, and the election of officers and approval of meeting dates for the calendar year were the first orders of business.
Sisson holds the one at-large seat, representing voters throughout the county.  He was first elected in 2003 and is currently in his second four-year term.

Sisson thanked his colleagues for their confidence in electing him as chairman, saying, “It’s an honor and privilege to serve with you and even more of an honor to serve as your chairman and alongside Mr. Brooks.”
Brooks has represented the Shiloh District since 1992.  He is beginning his sixth term.
Sisson took over the gavel from Joe Grzeika, the previous year’s chairman who represents the James Madison District.
The other members of the Board of Supervisors are Dahlgren’s James Mullen and James Monroe’s John LoBuglio, who was attending his first meeting since being sworn in after unseating former Supervisor Jim Howard in the November election.
MEETINGS
A meeting schedule for the year was approved, with the first and third Tuesdays set for meetings in all months.  
There is a minor time change.  All three regular meetings, including the Service Authority, the Wireless Authority and the Board of Supervisors will be scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., so there will no longer be a gap between the three meetings when any of the agendas are short.  
That means that meetings of the Service Authority will likely begin at 6 p.m. with the Wireless Authority to take place afterward, as needed, and the Board of Supervisors likely to follow.
Elected officials are expected to set some additional special meetings for sessions to discuss proposed budgets and for other matters as the year progresses.
