The Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors has re-elected Darryl E. Fisher as its chairman for an additional one-year term and also re-elected District 4 Supervisor W.W. Hynson as vice-chairman. The two Westmoreland County leaders were re-elected unanimously by voice vote at a meeting of the supervisors Monday evening.
Fisher and Hynson were both elected to the board of supervisors in 1994. Both have previously served as chairman. Fisher was elected chairman in 1996 and then turned the gavel over to Hynson in 2010. Fisher returned to the chairman’s role last year with Hynson assuming the post of vice-chairman. Both men have a proud history of working together for the betterment of Westmoreland County.
At the meeting the supervisors also approved a $325,000 appropriation for the Westmoreland County Department of Comprehensive Services. The funds, which include $98,000 in local funding with the balance coming from the Commonwealth of Virginia, will be used to assist at-risk youth and families in the county.
The supervisors approved expanding the scope of a new Economic Development Planning Committee and are expected to seek applications for appointments to the planning committee later in the year. Scheduled appointments to the Wetlands Board were deferred until the February meeting of the supervisors.
