Rubynette Campbell Sanford
Rubynette Campbell Sanford, 86, of Montross, widow of Milton Sanford, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 23, 2010.
She was retired stenographer for the Cooperative Extensive Service, and a member of Currioman Baptist Church, where she served as clerk for 45 years, church historian, a Sunday school teacher and various other committees.
Mrs. Sanford is survived by a son, Frankie Sanford (Patsy) of Bracey; and three brothers, Preston Campbell (Yvonne) of Ocean City, Md., Wallace Campbell(Barbara) of Southern, and Gilbert Campbell (Shirley) of Daytona Beach, Fla. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Sheila Sanford(Douglas); two great-grandchildren, Leah Hall(Justin) and Brandee Jones (Jeff); and four great-grandchildren, Blake Hall, Tarryn Hall, Carter Hall and Jackson Jones.
Also surviving is close friend and sister-in-law, Ruby Campbell.
A funeral was held Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Currioman Baptist Church. Interment followed in Currioman Cemetery.

Susan Johnson Roberts
Susan Johnson Roberts, 83, of Oak Grove went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010. She was born on Sept. 17, 1926.
She is survived by two wonderful sons, Theodore Streets Jr. and Ronald Streets of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Inita Baylor of Montross and Rosie Vaughan of King George County; two brothers, David Johnson of King George and Lawrence Johnson of Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family received friends at Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove, Va., on Thursday, Aug. 26.
The funeral was held Friday, Aug. 27, with the Rev. Earl T. Howerton, pastor, officiating.

Virginia Brown, 87, of Colonial Beach passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010.
A funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 28, at First Baptist Church of Colonial Beach.
Arrangements are by Lee Funeral Home, King George.
Edna Lee Morris
Edna Lee Morris of Fredericksburg passed away at the age of 100, on Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Golden Living Center.
Mrs. Morris is survived by a son, Howard Morris of Dahlgren; two daughters, Darlene Stevens of Locust Grove and Mary Rose of Fredericksburg; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Morris, and son Randolph Morris.
Her funeral was held Thursday, Aug. 26, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. Burial followed in Beulah Baptist Church in Westmoreland County.

Mary Ann Early
Mary Ann Early, 59, of Charlottesville made the journey back home to God on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, succumbing to a long illness. She died peacefully at her home with her family at her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the Honorable Horace A. Revercomb Jr., and Mrs. Mary Virginia Revercomb of King George County, and her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Revercomb Wilson, of New Cumberland, Pa.
She is survived by her brothers, James A. Revercomb of Ashland and the retired Honorable Horace A. Revercomb III; her husband, John H. Early, of Charlottesville, and their daughter, Mara Rhodenizer (Trey), of Charlottesville; and three grandsons, Carter, Peyton and Harris. She also leaves behind her dear and devoted friend and caretaker Judy Willis, of Charlottesville.
She was a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing, and was employed as a registered nurse at the UofVA Hospital for 17 years. She was a member of Saint Paul’s Ivy Episcopal Church,
A memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 29, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Ivy, officiated by Rector Miller Hunter. Interment was private in the churchyard.
Donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Association, or to the Hospice of the Piedmont.
Julian H. Griffith
Julian H. Griffith Jr., 92, of King George County died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mr. Griffith was born May 18, 1918, in Fredericksburg. He was the son of the late Julian Hungerford Griffith Sr. and Cornelia Flemer Griffith.
Mr. Griffith retired from civilian employment at the Dahlgren Navy base. He then had time to enjoy many years of gardening, always looking forward to planting time in the spring, and sharing vegetables from the garden with his friends and family.
Mr. Griffith is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Margaret Allensworth Griffith; his son, Frank Wayne Griffith (Susan), of Chesterfield; his daughter Judith Griffith Crockett of Bristol; his daughter Jacqueline Gay Baker (Vernon), of King George; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by one brother, Edward Colville Griffith (Margaret Ann), of Fredericksburg.
A funeral was held on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, in Oak Grove. A private interment followed the service and reception.
The family received friends at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home in King George.

Helen M. Koval
Helen M. Koval passed from this life to be with her Lord on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She had been lovingly cared for, for 10 years at her home with her daughter and son-in-law.
Born April 22, 1930, to Paul and Willie Ensminger in Iaeger, W.Va., she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John R. Koval, on Aug. 24, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harry Ensminger of Stevenson, W.Va., Joe Ensminger of Chattanooga, TN, and Jack Ensminger of Charlotte, N.C; sisters-in-law Gwen Ensminger of Bolton, MA, Marie Ensminger, of Bluefield, WV., Helen Ensminger of Charlotte, and Judy Ensminger of Hixon,TN; and her dearest friends, Nellie Taylor, Mae Porterfield Hall and Inga Graham, all of Fredericksburg.
She is survived by her only child, Carla, and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Russell; a granddaughter, Rhonda M. Richardson (Tommy), and their daughters, Carlyn, Caitlyn, and Cristalyn; her grandson, Robert L. Russell II (Kermora), and their two children, Alexis and Robert.
Helen is also survived by a brother, Ted(Ruth), of Jacksonville, FL; her beloved brother Fred, who visited her faithfully for 10 years and his wife, Frances, of King George; a brother, Ray (Verna), of Princeton, WV.; her only sister, Dorothy Wiles of Spring Valley, WV; and a dear friend, Jean Lohr Mosely of Mount Airy, N.C.
She also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews--too numerous to mention--but not forgotten.
A funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel with her son-in-law, the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Russell officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Theodore J. Bakker
Theodore J. “Ted” Bakker, 55, of Grand Rapids, Mich., went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Elizabeth Bakker; and a sister, Janet Bakker.
Ted is survived by his brother, Donald Bakker (Kathi) of King George County; his nephew, Donald W. Bakker (Lana) of King George; his nieces, Cheryl Kleinman (Lloyd), of King George, and Michelle Whitelaw (Ryan), of Talbot, Tenn.; nine great-nephews; two great-nieces; one great-great-nephew; and one great-great-niece.
The funeral was held Sunday, Aug. 29, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. S.E., Grand Rapids, MI, 49508, with the Rev. George Aupperlee and the Rev. Bob Boersma officiating. Interment followed in Blain Cemetery.

Mary A. Cooper, 89, of Colonial Beach died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Richmond Community Hospital.
She is survived by two brothers, Farrish Purce of King George County and Marrill Purce of Colonial Beach; and one sister, Selena Johnson of Clinton, Md.
A funeral will be held Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Earl T. Howerton Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Maryland National Memorial Park in Laurel. Remains may be viewed one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Clyde C. Stone
Clyde C. Stone, 59, died at home on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born and raised in King George County.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Carson Stone of AL. Clyde is survived by his mother, Mamie Stone of King George; sisters Ida Williams of King George, Dorothy Crabtree of Colonial Beach, Hazel Massey of Port Royal, Shirley Askew of Woodland, NC, and Anita Mullins of Havelock, NC; brothers Kenneth Stone of King George, Donald Stone of Orange County and Gene Stone of Spotsylvania County; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Clyde was a longtime resident of Havelock, NC, and employee of Gray’s Texaco. He will be truly missed by his family, friends and co-workers.
Brenda I. Thomas
Brenda I. Thomas, 59, of Colonial Beach died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Thomas of Colonial Beach; one daughter, Lisa Daugherty (Shawn), of Colonial Beach; her parents, Bobby and Louise Wood of Colonial Beach; one brother, Billy Wood(Carol), of Mechanicsville, Md.; and one granddaughter, Sarah Louise Daugherty.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Meadow-Brooke Memorial Gardens, in King George, with the Rev. Richard Headley officiating.

Christopher M. Garrison
Christopher M. “Big Country” Garrison, 31, of Colonial Beach died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010.
Born in Farmville and a graduate of Colonial Beach High School, he was employed by PAR Services.
He is survived by his mother, Jeanne Acree and brother, Douglas W. Garrison (Lori), all of Colonial Beach; two sisters, Ashley and Kelsey Garrison of Drakes Branch; paternal grandmother Bernice Hailey of Keysville; and three nieces. Also surviving is his former wife and friend, Tina Chrisman. He was preceded in death by his father, M. Douglas Garrison; paternal grandfather Bobby Hailey; and maternal grandmother Elizabeth Jenkins.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3 at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, with the Rev. Richard Headley officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held Friday, starting at 2p.m. until the funeral service.
