William “Bill” Lucas of Tappahannock departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, after a brief illness.
Bill worked for the Architect of the Capitol in Washington, DC, as a laborer for 35 years until he retired in 2005.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jean R. Lucas; one son, Darryl M. Lucas Sr.; two daughters, Alesia B. Shelton and Carla J. Lucas; four grandsons, Darryl M. Lucas II, Quatis T. Lucas, Shawn O. Darr and Dejon M. Lucas; one daughter-in-law, Aleta A. Lucas; one son-in-law, Michael B. Shelton; six sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; 12 nephews; 10 nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation was held Friday, Dec. 7, at Washington Funeral Home, 1404 Tappahannock Blvd,, Tappahannock, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
The funeral was held Saturday, Dec. 8, at Second Baptist Church, Warsaw, with the Rev. Roderick H. Parks, pastor, and the Rev. Ronnie Sidney, eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery.
