Robert Gordon “Bob” Watts Sr. 85, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of King George County and Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, in Port Charlotte.
He was born May 9, 1927, in Port Royal to the late Charlie and Virginia Watts. He served honorably during World War II in the U.S. Navy,
and continued his service with the U.S. government for 27 years.
He retired to southwest Florida with his wife, Anne, who preceded him in death in December 2007. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Anne Watts Hart, in September 2012.
He was a long standing member of the American Legion, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge and the VFW of Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his son, Robert G. Watts Jr. (Kelly), of Port Charlotte; his sister, Virginia Upshaw of Gether; grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with Navy honors was conducted Saturday, March 30, at Charlotte Memorial Cemetery, Punta Gorda, FL, with the American Legion chaplain officiating.
Donations may be made in Robert’s memory to American Legion Post 110, 3152 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL.
