Roland L. Phillips, United States Navy Veteran, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in Spotsylvania, VA.
Roland worked for the Alexandria City Public School System for more than 30 years, before retiring in 2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland H. and Rosalie Phillips; a son Shane M. Phillips; his step children, Carol Todd and Stephen Barton, a step grandchild James Bailey; his first wife Barbara J. Phillips; his second wife, Barbara C. Phillips, and a brother Glen Phillips.
Roland was the loving husband of Susan A. Phillips; a devoted father to his daughter, Shawna M. Carrion; step daughters, Leslie Bailey and Miriam Lipscomb, his son Raylee R. Phillips. He is also survived by his siblings, Ralph, George and Juanita; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314.
A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
