Ken’s (898-1011) reported that snakeheads are biting very well. Aqualand (301-259-0572) had reports of lots of fish being caught. Some catfish were hitting. Good sized croaker were biting well. Bluefish were being caught, nice perch, small but keeper puppy drum (over 18 inches) a black drum, and some rockfish are hitting.
Rollins Seafood (540-663-3597) in King George reported really good croaker in the river Crabs are really nice size. Call them for an order of crabs. He also had a few keeper red drum.
Catfish are reportedly biting well. Bass have turned on and a rumor was spreading of crappie taking to schooling and anglers getting some decent action. Fish the outgoing tide for the better action. Incoming tide was decent as well. My neighbor and a family member took a nice catch of catfish not far from Hopyard of various sizes.
Lake Anna anglers are targeting bass in deeper water and scoring. Striper are schooling in and around the Splits and taking swim baits and spoons.
Motts Run Reservoir (540-786-8989) no report. However, the reservoir is a beautiful place to be during the fall.
Captain Ryan Rogers (804-580-0245) reports incredible fishing. Last week he had anglers on COBIA in the bay near Smith Point. Go figure. Redfish are still in the area and he also was taking some really beautiful bluefish. Capt. Ryan he does have some dates open this month for some of the best variety of the summer right now.
