Fishing reports continue to be few and scattered although what we hear about striper fishing is good. Hunting for small game continues to be very good with plenty of squirrels and rabbits. Foxes are abundant too. Deer hunters are seeing a few more deer now. The rut seems to be in now with bucks chasing does and chasing other bucks off too.
Potomac River
Aqualand (301-259-0572) reported slow fishing activity by customers. They did not hear of any fishing activity worth reporting.
We hear of decent striper action further downriver from us.
Rappahannock River
Catfish are hitting although few are fishing now.
Inland
Lake Anna—Fishing for striper is good from what reports we gathered. Fish under birds with cranks or spoons for stripers and fish deeper structure near flats for crappie. Use a fish finder to locate fish.
Ponds—Fishing was very good for small bass and slab crappie. Use minnows or bright jigs. White small spinnerbaits are also working.
Saltwater
Captain Ryan Rogers (804-580-0245) reports continued great live bait action for rockfish up to 28 inches. He also started trolling and is finding large fish.
Hunting
Deer action is slowly picking up. Pern’s had four deer checked in. All were bucks. Ducks appear to be fewer in our area right now.
