Council appoints Captain William Seay Interim Chief
Councilman Tommy Edwards abstained from the vote to accept Blevins' resignation but voted for Seay's appointment to interim Chief of Police.
Colonial Beach Chief of Police Kenneth Blevins, Sr. walked out of Town Center after attending a closed meeting with Council and Town Manager Val Foulds. Blevins collected his belongings from his normal seat and left the building without speaking to anyone.

Council action will keep residents from being evicted on Christmas eve
Colonial Beach Town Council held an emergency meeting on Sunday, Dec. 23 after officials were informed that Building Inspector Dextor Monroe was notified by the owner of the Beachgate Inn that he intended to to stop payment for fire watch services at the inn.

Home-based businesses popping up in the numbered streets
Two enterprising business women may be setting a precedent for starting businesses in the numbered streets. Although the town has a business district along Colonial Ave. and Washington, the Comprehensive Plan allows for small home-based businesses throughout neighborhoods in town as long as they are not disruptive to quiet living.

Relocating Town Hall
Public Works Committee Chair, Gary Seeber began his meeting with, “We are looking into relocating town hall.”

Colonial Beach Town Council approved a resolution allowing the town manager to apply for an allocation of funds through the Virginia Department of Transportation fiscal year 2013-14 revenue sharing program.
If accepted the state will allocate $275,000 to be matched with an equivalent amount from the town for construction projects, to include drainage and paving to two unpaved roads, Stratford St. from Santa Maria to Stratford Circle and Forest Ave. from Stratford St. to Linda Ln. in Colonial Beach.
