The Colonial Beach School Board had previously asked the Town of Colonial Beach for an additional almost $400,000 over last year’s budget. Now the CB School System has started the 2013-2014 Budget process with an $854,348 shortfall, and the need for trailer replacement at the elementary school. This could bring the request for more funding to close to half a million dollars.

Colonial Beach School Board members set a good example last week for students on how to resolve differences.
For several years now the Colonial Beach School Board meetings have remained nothing less than civil. So it was a big surprise when the board passed a resolution to censure school board member Wayne Kennedy.
School Board Chairman Tim Trivett began the process by saying, “Unfortunately this is something that cannot take place in closed session.”

Richmond – Gov. Bob McDonnell is delighted but school superintendents are miffed that the House passed legislation Monday to give each public school a letter grade – A through F – based on its performance.
McDonnell issued a statement after delegates voted 54-40 to approve House Bill 1999, which would require the Virginia Board of Education to implement such a system.

With elections just four weeks away and three vacant seats on the Colonial Beach School Board and only two write-in candidates to fill those seats, Colonial Beach schools are facing another hard break with the exit of Superintendent DonnaPower.
Colonial Beach Superintendent Donna Power announced Thursday morning Oct. 11 that she has accepted another superintendent position in Page County Public Schools.
She will remain in Colonial Beach until Nov. 30.
