Westmoreland County Sheriff C.O. Balderson has announced the arrest of three fugitives from Loudoun and Spotsylvania counties at an apartment complex in Colonial Beach. The arrests were made early Friday by the Tri-County Task Force which is composed of officers from Westmoreland, King George and Caroline counties as well as the Virginia State Police and the Naval Criminal Investigations Service.
According to Balderson, those arrested were Ryan B. Williams, 31, of Leesburg; Eric D. Smith, 23, of Colonial Beach; and Orlando C. Smith, 25, of Fredericksburg. The Smiths are not related. Balderson said the arrests were made in the early morning hours at the Riverwood Apartments in Colonial Beach with the help and cooperation of the Colonial Beach Police Department.
Williams was arrested on a fugitive warrant from Loudoun County for assault on a family member, possession of cocaine, a probation violation from a previous conviction and failure to appear. He is also a person of interest in two homicides in Loudoun County, according to Balderson.
Eric Smith was wanted by Loudoun authorities on a charge of distribution of cocaine and two failures to appear in court. Orlando Smith was sought by Spotsylvania authorities for simple assault and battery by mob as a result of an incident in Spotsylvania. He was also sought by Colonial Beach on a vandalism charge. Balderson said Westmoreland County’s new canine unit, Sheriff’s Deputy Ron Davis and police dog Zena, assisted in the arrest.
