Thanks for your interest in advertising in one of The Journal's publications.
Here is some information about rates, ad sizes and publication schedules that hopefully will help you decide in which publication you would like to advertise and how to place an ad.
The Journal is the local weekly newspaper for King George County, the Town of Colonial Beach and Westmoreland County. We cover local government, local sports, and people.
If it didn't happen in King George, Colonial Beach or Westmoreland it didn't happen!
Advertising Rates
The Journal is a broadsheet newspaper.
Front page ad - $500 (6 cols. x 2 inches)
Display advertising - $11.00 per column inch, net
Classified display advertising - $11.00 per column inch, net
Classified advertising - $15 first 25 words, 25¢ for each additional word.
So what is a column inch?
The Journal is published in broadsheet format and has 6 columns on a page. So a column inch is one column wide and one inch deep. Unlike other newspapers, we still use the larger format which means you will have more room in your ad space to tell your story.

Up to 8 page tabloids $65 per thousand
Costs for larger preprints available upon request

Legal Advertising
The Journal publishes legal advertising for King George, Dahlgren, Colonial Beach and Westmoreland including ads for the local governments in King George and Colonial Beach.
Full Color Advertising
Available for an additional $2 per column inch.

The Dahlgren Source is a monthly independent publication of The Journal Press oriented to the employees of the base at Dahlgren and the contractor community in the Dahlgren area.
Our goal is provide news from the tenant commands at Dahlgren, including the Naval Surface Warfare Center, and stories about the people who work at Dahlgren, their families and their community. Because most of the workforce at Dahlgren is civilian and lives in the area, we try to provide information about local schools, colleges, organizations and activities.Advertising Rates

ChamberLink is the monthly newspaper of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce. It is mailed to Chamber members and businesses throughout the Fredericksburg area. It is the only publication targeted only to businesses in the Fredericksburg area.
Advertising in ChamberLink is a benefit of membership in the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Advertising in the Relocation Guide is only open to Chamber members.

Getaway Magazine, a tourism magazine, is published by The Journal Press, Inc. quarterly.

Our Specialty Publications
King George Home & Craft Show Section

In the spring, we publish a special tabloid-sized publication for the King George Home & Craft Show which is held the first weekend in March. The section has information about the home show, the exhibitors and crafters. It is inserted in The Journal the week before the show and is also handed out to all the visitors to the show. The Home & Craft Show is one of the big events in King George. At the end of the winter, area residents have a chance to get out and check out the vendors, see all sorts of crafts and catch up with their friends and neighbors while they enjoy lunch at the Show.
Colonial Beach Guide
Before Memorial Day we publish a tabloid-sized guide to what's happening in the Town of Colonial Beach over the summer. In addition to information about the annual Potomac River Festival, we have stories and information about activities for tourists and visitors to the town over the summer.
King George Community Guide
Once a year, during the summer, we publish The Journal's King George Community Guide, a tabloid-sized publication, with information about the county government, community organizations and news of general interest to both new and long-time residents.
King George Parks & Recreation Brochure

Three times a year (Summer, Fall and Winter) The Journal publishes a brochure for the King George Parks & Recreation Department. The brochure is 8.5 x 11 flexi format and lists information about activities for kids and adults through Parks & Rec. It is inserted in The Journal and distributed to the county schools to go home with the kids. It is also available at the Citizens Center and county offices and other locations.
