A Gospel Concert will be held Saturday, August 14, 6 p.m. on stage at Town Hill in Colonial Beach. Jordon’s Journey was first discovered in May of this year. Jordon Smith is a six-year-old happy and fun-loving little boy who is visually impaired due to septo-optic dysplasia (SOD). His optic nerves are small and undeveloped. He has lived with this condition his whole life.
Last fall a relative asked his mother, Catharine Quinn, about checking out a new, controversial treatment through the website stemcellschina.com. The site provides information about adult stem cell treatments for a variety of conditions, including septo-optic dysplasia.
Though the treatments aren’t approved in the United States, Quinn realized she had to try this for Jordon. Quinn has received Jordon’s acceptance letter to China for treatment, and they hope to have the funding together to go to China late this fall. The family needs $40,000 to cover all expenses, including travel and treatment.
The Gospel Concert this Saturday, will be a wonderful time to praise the Lord with the groups, a soloist, and Praise Dancers and will be a joyful fundraising effort for Jordon’s Journey.
The evening will include the New Singing Disciples, Mighty Gospel Melodies, Soloist Charmaine Greet, the Praise Dancers and a special performance by Jordon and his drums.
His Ma-Ma, (grandmother) Sissy Stewart, owner of Lala’s Salon in Colonial Beach, is accepting donations at her shop or they can be mailed to Catherine Quinn, 1357 Charleston Street, King George, Va. 22485. Checks should be made out to Jordon’s Journey for Sight, c/o Catherine Quinn.
