To the Editor:
Bob Fountain, of Montross, appears frequently in the local Westmoreland paper — not so often in the one from King George. His letters to the editor never mention that he is chairman of the local (Westmoreland) Republican party; The Journal identifies him as such, the other paper does not. His letter, last week, gave us a whole bunch of candidates that he feels will save the world. The only thing of interest is his failure to mention Crabill for delegate. This is good — she is bad.
Of course he is pushing for the Regent University candidate for governor. Why would anyone want a man who, although born in the 20th century, would take Virginia back to the 19th? This man claims to have a plan to rescue our transportation by removing more than $5 billion from education, and from the sale of the state liquor stores. This, of course, requires that the legislature would permit the loss of $100 million per year of revenue, and assumes there is a buyer for the whole thing. Bob McDonnell is a poor choice for anything — certainly for governor.
Then there is Cuccinelli who wants to be attorney general. His platform is slightly to the right of McDonnell, if that is possible. He is a figure right out of the 19th century. We don’t need these backward looking folks. Their real solution to transportation is the horse-and-buggy era. A real money-saver, but unlikely to get people to work on time.
Mr. Deeds is the only honest man in this race. He may have gotten himself in trouble when he admitted only taxes can possibly save us from budget problems. If we really want to improve our roads and still educate our kids, do not depend on the Tooth Fairy. Virginia has become the best state to do business only in the past 8 years, and only because of our Democratic Governors. Only Deeds can be counted on to continue our reputation.

To the Editor:
Jim Howard has earned his King George James Monroe Board Seat!
It’s not often that we get to go to the polls and have the opportunity to vote for and re-elect a candidate that you feel not only listens to their constituents but solicits input for his own consideration.
Jim Howard’s 13 year’s experience serving on the King George Board of Supervisors is needed at this economically and socially difficult time facing KG and its citizens.
If you attend the KG Board meetings, you will recognize and appreciate his skill as a consensus builder who has the ability to step-in with questions and comments that help to channel board business in a manner resulting in a more favorable outcome.
Jim continues to be very active in a wide range of King George community activities including Fairview Beach Residents Association. He attends FBRA Saturday monthly meetings where he reports on board business, answers questions and seeks feedback. On Fairview Beach Day he “volunteers” to sit in the dunking booth where adults and children delight in “dunking” their BOS representative ... all in good fun.
Please join me in showing appreciation to Jim Howard for his service to our county with your vote, Nov. 3.
