Communication Lines during a disaster must remain open
When disaster strikes disseminating information takes on a greater priority. All of the normal lines of communication may become gridlocked and getting information out to the residents of Colonial Beach becomes a greater challenge.
In an effort to meet this challenge, in the event of an emergency, the Town of Colonial Beach will use the following methods of getting information out to the residents.
If the phone lines are still operational, non emergency information will be available at Town Hall. Please call Town Hall at 224-7181. To report emergencies, please dial 911. In addition written notices will be placed at the following locations: Town Hall, Police Department, Fire Department, 7-11, and the community bulletin board at Public Works.
Communication is a two-way-street. It is important to get information from the local government and service agencies out to the residents and it is equally important to get information about special needs from the residents of Colonial Beach to the service agencies.
It is imperative that anyone with special medical or physical needs (on oxygen, takes medications that need to be refrigerated, extra help to get to an emergency shelter, etc.) communicate those needs to the Town Clerk at 224-7181, the Police Department at 224-0141, or the Rescue Squad at 224-7750 so that in the event of a disaster, arrangements can be made to meet those needs.
