Colonial Beach Police Department wants citizens to be aware of their options in an emergency.
If you or someone you love is elderly or has specials needs such as requiring the use of oxygen, the Town of Colonial Beach wants you to call Town Hall at 224-7181 and be put on their Emergency Response List. By doing so you can alert town officials to your needs in the event of an emergency.
During power outages officials will call and check on individuals on the list to assure they have everything they need to manage their special needs during a power outage or other disaster.
“We maintain a list of those who require oxygen machines and other critical services in the event of an extended power outage,” Police Chief Christopher Hawkins said. “This will enable us to check on those with needs that could be especially affected by such an outage. In the event of a major storm we encourage those who require daily medications and special services to prepare in advance. This preparation includes ensuring that enough medication is on hand and that you are aware of locations you can go that have generator power for your medical/electrical needs.”
Colonial Beach maintains an Emergency Operation Center during major power outages at the Town Center located at 22 Washington Ave. If shelter locations are needed, locations and information will be posted at that location.
