Later that year, June moved to Colonial Beach to be near her son, Mike, and daughter-in-law, Judy.  She loved her flowers, living close to the water, and she loved the town of Colonial Beach. She loved telling stories about her childhood in Minnesota--growing up during the Depression, walking across Lake George after it had just begun to thaw in order to make her dad’s curfew--and her early years in Washington.
June made several trips to Oklahoma over the years to see her daughter, Laurie, son-in-law Russ, and grandkids Jenni, Nate and Beki. and to California to see her daughter, Lynn, son-in-law Mark, and grandkids George and Steve.
The distance didn’t stop her from being a hands-on grandmother. She met each one of her grandkids shortly after they were born and attended most of their baptisms, graduations and marriages.
