Kathleen Delores Seay

Kathleen Delores Seay of Glen Allen and Colonial Beach, passed away on June 30, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl F. Shields; sister, Maureen Shields; two brothers, Michael and Kevin Shields; and a nephew, Patrick Shields.
She is survived by her husband, William R. "Bill" Marion Shields; two brothers, Dusty Shields and wife Barbara, and Sandy Shields; sister Marlene Biggs and husband Johnny; four grandchildren, Trey, Nicholas and Hunter Painter and Maverick Anderson; also many nieces and nephews who were special to her.
Kathleen was a long time employee of Wachovia Bank with 30 plus years of service where she developed many friendships and life long friends.  
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Tuesday, July 7th at Nash & Slaw, Colonial Beach Chapel, 3rd Street, Colonial Beach, Va.  Interment will be private.

Freddie Allen Stancil

Freddie Allen Stancil, “Fred” to family and friends that knew and loved him, left us on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the age of 69.  He was preceded in death by his wife,  Marcia J. Stancil, his mother, Maycel Wimer Stancil and his father, William Leonard Stancil.  He leaves behind to cherish many fond and loving memories three children, Kimberly Kay Stancil Reep, Bridget Lynn Stancil Loebs, Freddie Allen Stancil, three grandchildren, and his sister, Treva Marie Stancil Devers.
A long time resident of Colonial Beach, VA Fred had many friends and enjoyed spending time at the VFW with them.  One of his favorite activities in recent years was looking out over the water with “MJ” before she passed, and later by himself, at Wakefield and “the point” at Colonial Beach.
A “celebration of life” get-together will be held at the VFW in Colonial Beach, VA on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 1:00 pm for friends who would like to share their memories of Fred and bid him a fond farewell.

Raymond L. Mattingly

Raymond L. Mattingly, 85, formerly of Colonial Beach, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Transitions Health Care in Sykesville, Md. Born Feb. 28, 1924, in Washington, D.C., he was son of the late Clinton and Hattie Mattingly.
He was a World World II veteran who served in the Navy for three years. He was a motor machinist in the Navy, and later had a career as an auto mechanic. He was employed at Bendall Pontiac and later retired from Chandler's Chevrolet in Montross.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in King George County. His hobbies included camping, tinkering with cars, and country music.
He was the husband of Catherine Mattingly, who died in 2003. His eldest daughter Barbara A. Rolph of Sedro Woolley, Wash., predeceased him recently.
Survivors include his daughter Mary A. Mattingly Reiss and son-in-law Steve Reiss of New York City; his son, Mike R. Mattingly, and daughter-in-law Vicki Mattingly of Reisterstown, Md.; his sister, Marylou Blasko of Calvert Cliffs, Md.; his grandchildren, Jenny Bryant of Eugene, Ore., Courtney Mattingly Schoenborn of Baltimore, Alexandra Reiss of New York City, Army Spc. Chris Mattingly of Fort Lewis, Wash., and Tyler Reiss of New York City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, 11089 James Madison Parkway, King George. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow in Historyland Memorial Park, King George.
