Elise G. Roane

Elise G. Roane, 70, of Tappahannock departed this life Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at her residence.
She is survived by two daughters, Laverne Smith of Pennsylvania and Juanita Brown of Tappahannock; two sons, Earl Roane and William "Billy" Roane, both of Tappahannock; and three sisters, Ella Mae Roane, Jean Campbell and Louisa Garnett, all of Tappahannock.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 6, at St. John Baptist Church, DeSha, with the Rev. Linwood Jones, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Harold E. Hume

Harold E. Hume, 84, of Colonial Beach died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Hume was a retired machinist with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and also served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Hume; four daughters, Linda Bollman, Kathy Long, Carol Hume and Marsha Giese; two sons, Raymond Hume and William Hume; his sister, Ruthie Batcher; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.
Arrangements are by Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach.

Anna M. Ellis

Anna M. Ellis, 80, of King George County died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Bowling Green Health Care Center.
She retired as a custodian for King George County at King George Courthouse.
She is survived by her husband, Earnest Ellis, of Fredericksburg, and her conservator/guardian Marilyn Johnson of King George.
A funeral was held Monday, June 8, at First Baptist Church, Colonial Beach, with the Rev. Dr. David Cunningham officiating. Burial was in Sharp Hill Cemetery, King George.

John Edwin Suttle

John Edwin Suttle, 94, of Colonial Beach passed away Monday, June 1, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Suttle was born in King George County and was the son of James E. and Rosa Suttle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary W. Suttle; two sisters, Elizabeth and Margaret; and a brother, Sam.
He is survived by a niece, Rosalie R. Shelton of Tucson, Ariz.; two nephews, Carl Rice of Loudon, Tenn., and Thomas E. Suttle of Medford, Ore.; his caretaker, Luke Sydnor of Colonial Beach; and sisters-in-law Delma Rose of Weems, Thelma Rowe of White Stone and Margaret Suttle of Medford.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach.
A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, 131 Third St., Co-lonial Beach. Burial will follow in White Marsh Methodist Church cemetery, Lancaster County.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
Hubert N. Henville
Hubert N. Henville, 86, of New York died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at his son's home in King George County. Arrangements are incomplete at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal.

Gloria Jean Brown Lewis

Gloria Jean Brown Lewis, 58, of Fredericksburg died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in Norfolk.
Ms. Lewis was born in Stafford County to James and Annie Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lewis; her parents, James and Annie Brown; and her sister Elizabeth Turner.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Tracey Brown Ellis and her husband, Paul, of Stafford; Teresa Brown of Fredericksburg; and Melissa Rock of Bowling Green; one son, Torrey Lewis and his wife, Timmina, of Stafford; three brothers, James Brown of Tappahannock, Charles Brown and his wife, Ronetta, of Spotsylvania County, and Ronald Brown and his wife, Mable, of King George County; one sister Margaret Myers and her husband, Richard, of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a special niece, Margo Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held at noon Thursday, June 11, at A.L. Bennett & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Louis Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown family cemetery in Stafford.
The body may be viewed from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, and one hour prior to the service at A.L. Bennett & Son Funeral Home.

Pamela Lynn VanWagner

Pamela Lynn VanWagner, 56, of Fredericksburg, formerly of McGehee, Ark., died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mrs. VanWagner enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening and, most of all, spending time with her grandsons. She was a member of Spotswood Baptist Church. She attended James Monroe High School, but graduated from McGehee High School.
Survivors include her husband, Larry VanWagner; her son, Bill Rogers of Benton, La.; her stepson, John Rogers of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; her sisters Lynda Colley and her brother-in-law, Charles, of King George County, Sheila Ruggles and her husband, Bob, of Champaign, Ill., and Wendy Sacco and her husband, Michael, of Madison County; two grandchildren, Keegan and Liam Rogers; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Cheek and Marianne Maxey; and her sister Tricia Hancock.
A service was held Tuesday, June 9, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Cook officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Trudy Clifton, 113 Tallpines Ave., Locust Grove, Va. 22508.

Ernest McCauley

Ernest "Mac" McCauley of Colonial Beach left us Saturday, May 23, 2009, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
He worked at Rankin's True Value Hardware at Colonial Beach, and was a member of the Colonial Beach Moose Lodge.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2p.m. to 5p.m., Saturday, June 27th, at the Colonial Beach Moose Lodge, state Route 205.  All are welcome.
Contributions to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA, 22407, would be appreciated.
