Homer Ralph Stroud
Homer Ralph Stroud, 80, of Fredericksburg died Monday, June 21, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Stroud was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4123 of Fredericksburg. He had worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for American Poclain and later retired from Greenline Equipment. After retirement, he worked at American Floor Service.
Mr. Stroud also was a member of Richland Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Victoria Stroud, in 2004.
Survivors include his son, Dennis Stroud and his wife, Debbie, of King George County; three grandchildren, Dennis Scott Stroud and his wife, Tracey, of King George, Lauren Ashley Stroud of Alabama, and Donald L. Jett of King George; two great-grandchildren, Sydney Rae Stroud of King George and Trae Jett of Stafford; one sister, Helen Barrett of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
A service was held at Thursday, June 24, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Sherman Davis officiating. Burial followed in Richland Baptist Church cemetery.

Wilbur D. Gouldman
Wilbur D. Gouldman, 87, of Colonial Beach passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010, at his residence.
Wilbur graduated from Colonial Beach High Schol in 1939 and was a graduate of VPI with a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a pilot during World War II flying B-24s. Mr. Gouldman flew in the U.S. Air Force Reserve for three years after the war and was a squadron assistant operations officer. He served in the Virginia National Guard for eight years.
Wilbur worked with his father for 16 years in the operation of his feed mill in Colonial Beach. He was with the U.S. Navy as a quality evaluation engineer for 22 years and retired as a supervisory general engineer.
Wilbur served on the Colonial Beach Town Council for six years and was a past president and charter member of the Colonial Beach Lions Club. He was a member of Colonial Beach Baptist Church.
He is survived by daughters Dee Ann Barrack of Florida, Nancy Muse of Colonial Beach and Sandra Cecil of Richmond; a son, Russell Gouldman of Colonial Beach; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gene Gouldman.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his wives, Lucille “Peggy” Gouldman and Helen F. Gouldman; a brother, James Gouldman; and two stepsons.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, with the Rev. Johnny Almond officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s cemetery, Oak Grove.

Robert W. Warsing
Robert W. Warsing, 61, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital. His best friend, Judy Jurutka, was at his side.
Bob was a longtime resident of Fredericksburg and Colonial Beach. He was born in Newport News in 1948. Bob graduated from Fairfax High School in 1967 and attended NOVACC and George Mason University. He retired from Stafford County government after 22 years of loyal service as purchasing director.
He is survived by two brothers, Kent and Monty Warsing and their families. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Margot Warsing.
A memorial service will be planned in the future. Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Colonial Beach Humane Society, 6 N. Irving Ave., Colonial Beach, Va. or the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA.
James Green
James “Jim Crow” Green, 91, of King George County passed away Friday, June 25, at Heritage Hall. He was the son of the late Frank and Frankie Green.
He is survived by his daughter, Judith Faye Briscoe Jett of King George; three grandsons, Devrin Briscoe and his wife, Mandy, Darrin Briscoe and Robin Briscoe, all of King George County; and a great-granddaughter, Heather Briscoe.
The family received friends at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, and held a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Mrs. E.T. “Tick” Bourne officiating.

Barbara Jean Collins
Barbara Jean Collins, 78, of Colonial Beach passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Barbara was born Feb. 4, 1932. She retired from Georgetown University and was a member of American Legion Post 148.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph F. Collins, of the home; two daughters, Delores Rouse of Florida and Holly Collins of Colonial Beach; five sons, John Morris of Chantilly, Joseph Collins III of Falls Church, Charles Collins of Front Royal, Richard Collins of Colonial Beach and Matt Collins of Colonial Beach; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Summers Jr. of La Plata, Md. She also leaves her beloved dog, Pepe.
Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Bragg, and a son, Thomas Morris.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 1, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
