Janet Kaye Perrell of King George County died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at her home.
She is survived by her mother, Ruth Payne; her sisters, Phyllis Curtis, Ruth Vansikle and Carol Ray Lindley; her daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Dave Robertson; her son, Thomas Perrell; one grandson, Daniel Monk; her nieces and nephews, Robert Briscoe, Virginia Dement, Vicky Ridgeway, Linda Dement, Debbie Brantley, Carol Hagy and Natalie Cocuzzi; and many friends and tax clients.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Hawksworth and her nephew, Thomas William Dement.
Janet’s wishes were to have her ashes scattered in the Potomac River.

Verlette R. Maiden

Verlette R. Maiden, 83, of Suitland, Md., died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Rexford Place.
She is survived by three sisters, Melvine Smith, Frances O’Brien and Itelia Walker.
A funeral was conducted April 10, 2010, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Port Royal, with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Burial followed in Little Ark Baptist Church cemetery, Owens.

James Francis Simms

James Francis Simms, 65, died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Civista Medical Center, in La Plata, Md. He was born March 29, 1945, in La Plata.
Survivors include one son, James M. Simms (Michelle) of King George County; three daughters, Juanita M. Beale of Montross, Cheryl M. Simms of King George, and Crystal Kembro of King George; one sister, Joan Cooksey of La Plata; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by one uncle, Lester Stine; and numerous cousins, nieces and a nephew.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maurice J. Simms Sr. and Mae Elizabeth Stine Simms; and a brother, Maurice Simms Jr.
A funeral was held April 10, at New Hope Church of God in Waldorf, Md. Interment followed in Meadow-Brooke Memorial Gardens, King George.

Mary Louise Lucas

Mary Louise Lucas, 89, of Colonial Beach passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010, at her home.
A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday, April 14, at First Baptist Church, Colonial Beach, with interment to follow in the Good Hope Baptist Church cemetery in King George.

Michael W. Teter

Michael William Teter, 62, of Orange, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Teter was born in Harrisonburg to Orville William Teter and Joy Gaynel Lemons Teter. He was a retired carpenter and foreman and a member of North Pamunkey Baptist Church.
He served in the Seabees in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a past commander and life member of VFW Post 3103 in Fredericksburg, a member of VFW Post 2217 in Orange, and a member of American Legion Post 156 in Orange. He was also a life member of the White Oak Fire Department and a member of the White Oak Rescue Squad.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Marie Meadows Teter of Orange; his children, Elizabeth Marie Teter Perry and her husband, Stephen L. Perry, of Stafford County, Scott William Teter and his wife, Barbara A. Teter, of Stafford, and Tammy Rebecca Teter McDonald and her husband, Barry Miles McDonald, of Orange; grandchildren Erica Marie Perry and April Nicole Teter, both of Stafford, Ashley Kay McDonald of Orange, Michael Hampton Teter of Stafford, and Lauren Michelle McDonald of Orange; one great-grandchild, Savannah Marie Crosslin of Stafford; a brother, Philip Teter, of Spotsylvania County; and his sisters, Susan Barrett of King George and Sandra Weaver of Warrenton.
A funeral will be held at noon Thursday, April 15, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Ellinger officiating. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the funeral home.

George M. Sanford

George M. “Dickie” Sanford, 69, of Warsaw passed away Friday, April 9, 2010, after a long illness.
He was born Jan. 29, 1941, to James Elton and Georgia Annie Sanford. He had retired from the Naval Surgace Warfare Center at Dahlgren, served as a deacon at Menokin Baptist Church, and was a member of the Old Timers Hunt Club.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Sanford; his daughters, Patti S. Jones and husband Paul of Montross and Mandy S. Gallagher and husband Dennis of Warsaw; and four grandchildren, Samantha Elizabeth Jones, Caleb Sanford Gallagher, Alexandra Marshall Jones and Sara Caitlin Gallagher. He is also survived by one brother, James Elwood Sanford and wife Elizabeth of Montross; four sisters, Katherine Bowen and Paige Edwards and husband Robert, all of Annapolis, Md., Frances Roberts and husband Burl Gene of Montross and Lois Jones and husband Woody of Fredericksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wainwright Sanford and William Henry “Billy” Sanford.
A funeral was conducted April 12, at Menokin Baptist Church, Warsaw.

Joseph Francis O’Neil

Joseph Francis O’Neil, 93, of Warsaw, died on Sunday, March 28, 2010. He was retired from the U.S. Army and a member of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jane O’Neil, and his daughter, Janice O’Neil Stares.
Survivors are his son, John F. “Jack” O’Neil of Montross; and six grandchildren: Thomas O’Neil of Woodbridge, Teresa O’Neil Lee of Waynesboro, Patrick O’Neil of Birmingham, Ala., Jennifer O’Neil Kinkopf of Woodbridge, Steven Stares of Easton, Mass., and Stacey Stares of Somerville, Mass.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 14, at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, Hague. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery Thursday, April 15, at 1 p.m.

Carroll R. Middleton

Carroll R. Middleton Jr., 65, of Colonial Beach died Friday, April 9, 2010, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Middleton of Colonial Beach; one daughter, Rochelle Anderson Brown; and three sons, Andre Middleton of Maryland, Christopher Johnson (Tunisia) of Fairfax, and Lance Peyton of Colonial Beach.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, at Good Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Williams Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Frances DeBernard Stevens

Frances Marie DeBernard Stevens, 86, of King George County died Sunday, April 11, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Washington, D.C., and lived there until the move to the King George family farm in 1939. After moving to King George, she met Carle Temple Stevens, with whom she shared 49 wonderful years. She was a member of Potomac Baptist Church. Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, Carle T. Stevens; a sister, Emma S. Lynch; and a brother, William Sheppard.
Survivors include two daughters, Carleen S. Druiett (John), of Hartwood, and Tina S. Kastner, (Timothy), of Fairfax Station; four sons, Charles F. “Frankie” Stevens (Margie), of Montross, Frederick C. Stevens of KG,  Carle R. “Dickie” Stevens (Laura),of KG, and Dennis B. Stevens (Pam), of Montross; one sister, Delores “Dees” Atwood of Key West, Fla.; and six brothers, Lewis DeBernard (Edna), of Stuart, FL., Michael DeBernard (Shirley), of Suffolk; Frederick DeBernard (Joyce), Richard DeBernard, (Sara), Robert DeBernard, (Laddie), and Joseph DeBernard (Jackie), all of King George.
Survivors her 10 grandchildren: John Robert Druiett Jr., Steven Edward Druiett (Sallie), Mary-Frances Stevens, Franklin Christopher Stevens, Dennis Frederick Stevens, James Carle Stevens, Erin Elizabeth Stevens Jackson (Donald), Daniel Richard Stevens, Julia Elizabeth Kastner, and Carley Marie Kastner; and four great-grandchildren, Anne Druiett, Eli Druiett, Katherine Druiett and Trinity Jackson.
Mrs. Stevens was loved by numerous family and friends that she held dear, especially Michelle Stevens and Joyce S. Payne.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Potomac Baptist Church, King George.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 15, at Potomac Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Newton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in King George. Pallbearers will be John R. Druiett Jr., Christopher Stevens, Dennis F. Stevens, James C. Stevens, Daniel R. Stevens and Frederick Stevens.

Patricia Blackley Wallace

Patricia Blackley Wallace, 74, of Spotsylvania County went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 11, 2010, passing peacefully in her sleep after a long illness.
Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia Bailey (Jeff), and Debbie McKeen (Michael Hodgson), all of Fredericksburg; her brother, Kenneth Blackley (Carole) and their family of Warsaw; her sister, Joanne Graves (Charles), and their family, of King George County; her brother, Sonny Ludlam, of Fredericksburg; and her brother-in-law, Ronnie Wallace (Penny), and their family.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Heather Seibert(John), Ian Bailey (Brittany), Courtney, Karah and Blake Bailey; her step-grandchildren, Adam and Kyle Hodgson; her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan and Brayden Seibert, Jasmine Harris, Garrett Bailey and Ryleigh Jenks; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Wallace.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, at Salem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Allensworth officiating.
A covered dish reception will follow at the church Fellowship Hall. The burial will be private in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Because Mama loved pink, the daughters request that everyone who would like to participate would wear something pink in her honor.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
