Emily Rae Thomas

Emily Rae Thomas, 62, of King George County died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at her residence.
Rae was a former driver for the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board, Fredericksburg, for more than 20 years.
She is survived by her father, Luther Q. Johnson; three sons, John H. Thomas Jr., Paul A. Thomas and Kevin L. Thomas; her daughters, Josephine T. Thomas and Diamond L. Taylor; two brothers, Luther F. Johnson and Lloyd N. Johnson; and one sister, Ruth J. Johnson.
A funeral was held Friday, Dec. 4, at First Baptist Church Amber in King George, with the Rev. William T. Frye officiating. The remains will be cremated as she requested.

Garnett W. Mothershead

Garnett W. Mothershead, 90, of Foneswood went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009.
Mr. Mothershead was the widower of Auburn B. Mothershead, and was a retired farmer, an elder emeritus of Ephesus Christian Church, and served with the Farmers Home Administration for a number of years.
He is survived by a son, Gerald W. Mothershead and his wife, Susan; a daughter, Ellen Martin and her husband, Bill, of Montross; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great- grandson.
A funeral was held  Saturday, Dec. 5, at Ephesus Christian Church, Foneswood, with interment in the church cemetery. The family received friends Friday, Dec. 4, at the Montross Chapel of Welch Funeral Home.

Edward F. Colston

Edward F. Colston, 65, of King George County died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at his home.
Born in Richmond, Mr. Colston was a retired physicist at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren. He graduated from the University of Richmond and received his graduate degree from East Carolina University.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Colston; his children, Lynne Coats, Scott Colston and stepson Robert Hobson; his brother, Newton Colston; and his grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew, Vaughan, Steele and Blake. He was predeceased by his son John.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to King George Fire & Rescue, Inc., Box 466, King George, Va. 22485, or the Salvation Army, Box 179, Fredericksburg, Va. 22404-0179.

Patricia Ann Nestoryak
Patricia Ann “Pat” Nestoryak, 62, of King George County passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Pat is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bob; her mother, Eleanor Burnham of North Carolina; four sisters, Harriet Campbell of New York, Connie Burnham of Georgia, Deborah Gensler of North Carolina and Marion Ohler of King George; seven brothers, Crawford Burnham Jr. of Florida, Crawford Burnham III of New York, Robert Burnham of Georgia, Paul Burnham of New York, Gregory Burnham of New York, John Burnham of North Carolina and Frank Burnham of North Carolina; and numerous other relatives including her special niece, Brandy Stepaniak, her special nephews, Ricky, Michael and Christopher; and a special aunt, Sheila Phillips of New York.
She was preceded in death by her father, Crawford L. Burnham; a brother, Edward J. Burnham; two sisters, Barbara Fink and Ethel Peters; a nephew, Edward J. Burnham Jr. and a special uncle, Lucky Phillips.
A memorial service celebrating Pat’s life was held  Sunday, Dec. 6, at Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Elfie Finn-McKenzie officiating.

Mabel Crouch Bryant

Mabel Crouch Bryant, 95, of Colonial Beach and Alexandria, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Bowling Green Healthcare Center. She was the widow  of Mr. James Bryant.
Mrs. Bryant was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her great-nieces and caregivers, Sharee Skinner of Caroline County and Tamra Wheeler of Louisa County; her sisters, Mrs. Frances Van Dornes of Lively and Mrs. Edith Perkins of Carrollton, Ky.; her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Crouch of Fredericksburg and Mrs. Bea Crouch of West Virginia; her stepdaughter, Mrs. Betty Elliott of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, with Dr. Randy Newsome officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Bryant’s name to the Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407.

Jean Pecoraro

Jean Pecoraro, 81, of King George County passed away Thursday Dec. 3, 2009, at Heritage Hall. Found and Sons Funeral Chapels will be handling the arrangements which are incomplete at this time.

Dr. Julie A. Cahn

Dr. Julie A. Cahn, 42, of King George County lost her struggle with cervical cancer on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009.
Julie, a pharmacist at Costco in Fredericksburg, was a devoted Catholic and a member of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fredericksburg.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, and son William Ralph Cahn, 4, of King George; son Kristofer Chad Watson, 22, of Missouri; her mother and father, Donald and Mary Gerum of Tomahawk, Wis.; and four sisters, Debbie Boskovic of Inverness, Ill., Laura Canterbury of Springfield, Mellisa Gerum of Cantonsville, Md., and Heather Gerum of West Chester, Pa.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at St. Mary Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
A rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
Memorials may be made to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407.
